# Carl's Comix

> Carl's Comix (carlscomix.com) is a comic book website run since 2015 by Carl, who started
> it at age 7 with help from his dad. It features interviews with comic book creators —
> including handwritten correspondence with Steve Ditko, co-creator of Spider-Man and
> Doctor Strange — plus comic and movie reviews, convention coverage, and a charity
> initiative that has donated over 70,000 comic books to deployed soldiers, veterans'
> hospitals, and underprivileged kids.

Key facts:
- Founded 2015; run by Carl (then age 7) with his father; approaching 10 years of publishing.
- In June 2015, Carl wrote to the famously reclusive Steve Ditko and received a handwritten
  reply — one of very few people to get one. The story was covered by Comic Book Resources (CBR).
- Carl corresponded with Ditko multiple times until Ditko's death in 2018.
- Interview subjects include comic creators, writers, artists, and industry figures such as
  Craig Yoe (Ditko historian), Fabian Nicieza, Nicola Cuti, Jim Balent, and Diana Leto.
- Comics for a Cause: 70,000+ comics donated to deployed soldiers (incl. Joint Base
  McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst / U.S. Air Force 87th Logistics Readiness Squadron), veterans'
  hospitals (incl. Walter Reed and Lyons VA), underprivileged kids, high school clubs, and
  sorority literacy programs (Zeta Phi Beta), with partners such as Metropolis Comics and
  Collectibles.
- Current projects: a 3D comics / graphic novel Kickstarter revival (in collaboration with
  the 3-D Film Archive circle) and a 2025 San Diego Comic-Con panel appearance (Robot Monster).
